Tyco has launched Tyco Automation – a new process network solutions service which goes far beyond the design and supply of automated network systems, and takes total ownership of these systems to ensure they perform correctly in the field. All network protocols such as Devicenet, FF, ASi and Profibus are covered.
Industry research into network applications in Pacific has identified
a number of key issues, including:
Device Compatibility,
Vendor Support & Limited On-site Knowledge.
Device Compatibility
Compatibility of multiple vendor products is a key risk to projects utilising industrial networks to improve their asset management. Although vendors hold various type approval certifications, such as the Fieldbus Foundation mark or Profibus certification. Many projects have been delayed due to the instability of devices and control systems once installed on a fully loaded segment.
Vendor Support
electing the appropriate network (Profibus, Fieldbus Foundation, Devicenet and AS-Interface) for a site is important to best manage your assets. Many parameters need to be considered such as available devices, cost, information and control requirements. Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each protocol can provide insight on the most optimum construction of an industrial network that may include more than one protocol.
Tyco Automation has many of the major control systems available with all supported protocols. This allows process plants, consultants and system integrators the opportunity to understand the various limitations of each protocol and that specific control system. The outcome is reduced application and technical risk associated with the implementation.
Knowledge
Many industrial networks are operated and maintained by people that were not involved in the design, installation and / or commissioning. This leads to issues when breakdowns occur and people unfamiliar with the operation and set-up are left to deal with the system.
Tyco Automation can provide training on how to maintain, operate and problem solve industrial networks and their various components.
Onsite training for operators and maintenance personnel reduces impact on site resources, organised to suit shift requirements. Training consists of theory and practical on the devices and control system specific to your needs.
With Tyco Automation, you’re in control.
